Our first party was an engagement party. The groom is standing in the middle with two best men on each side with the decorative umbrellas.
We each were carrying gifts for the bride. I was carrying an interesting fruit.
We began our one block walk to the bride's home.
Here is the procession of people carrying gifts to the bride.
We made it to the bride's home with our gifts and waited to be invited into the home.
We were invited into the home where we all sat and watched the ceremony. The man in blue, the preacher, spoke and the groom listened and followed his lead.
The bride and groom sat in front of the preacher. Notice the lady in the background between the bride and groom. She is our RS president who invited us to come.
The bride and groom accepted the gifts of those present.
Here he put the engagement ring on her finger which was the height of the event
Then we went to eat to celebrate the event. This is Visnea and Sister Loy from our branch.
This is where we ate and helped celebrate the RS president's son's engagment party. It was a lot of fun to be there with many members of the branch.
Youth /BYU Students Party
The youth of the branch got together with about 25 BYU students who were in Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat.
We heard a piano solo, vocal duet and large group sing from BYU.
Our youth did a fashion show.
The kids looked great.
They were dressed in different colors.
Each color was for a different day.
Notice Dana and Da in the center in white as they were the directors of the event.
Here a BYU student posed with some of the branch members.
My great surprise was to see a student I had in my German class 11 years ago. He had to recognise me as he was shorter than me at the time. Amazing to meet him in Cambodia.
Here we are with Dana and Da who was in charge of the night. They did great. What a fun day of parties in Cambodia.
