This P day we decided to go see the Silk Farm located just out of Siem Reap.
The Silk Farm was in a delightful area.
The first stage was the silk worms who made cocoons like these.
Then they heated the silk cocoons to unravel them to acquire the silk thread.
The silk thread were then put on spools to use later.
The final step was when the girls would weave the thread into fabric, many with beautiful designs.
They dyed the silk thread in many colors so they could make a variety of pieces of cloth.
We stood by models of ancient rulers whose clothes were made of silk fabric.
Dana and Da joined us at the Silk Farm. This was both educational and beautiful. A great P day activity.
