Goodbye Africa Mercy Ship

Our time at the Africa Mercy Ship came to an end.  It was truly a memorable experience.

We said goodbye to some patients and our friends.

 We left on Saturday, Oct 7th and moved into the missionary apt with the Calls.  They were there to train us on what to do and where things are in Douala as well as Yaounde four hours away.

The first thing we did was attend the funeral of Brother Dim's (in the middle) father.

 A funeral in Africa is a bit different.

 Here the xylophone players/singers performed at the funeral.

It was an interesting mix of LDS singing of hymns, african choirs with drums, LDS branch presidency giving talks and a witch doctor spreading alcohol.  Fascinating.

We went to a farewell dinner for the Calls.

We also had a farewell dinner for the Calls with the missionaries with each bringing things.

The missionaries loved that final dinner.

Our big effort this week has been to help with transfers which has affected every week day.  Here is the transfer of two new Elders from the MTC in Ghana.  They are so excited to be here.

We are helping a member who is having problems with a tooth so we took her to a dentist.

This is one of our goals: to help the members go to the Aba, Nigeria temple.  We love being here.
