Ostia Antique was ancient Rome's seaport about 50 AD. There were about 50,000 people. We walked in the homes, shops and apartment buildings. There were mosiacs on the floors of the homes. We walked in the Roman baths also seeing mosaics. There was the ancient Roman Theater which they still hold concerts in today. To think we could see this just by riding the train from downtown for one Euro and here we were in antiquity. It was absolutely fascinating. Some think it was similar to Pompeii.
Tivoli was beautiful with many fountains. This was built by a cardinal who was hoping to be a pope.
We found the grounds at Tivoli beautiful.
Dennis loved Emperor Hadrian's Villa. This was near Tivoli. Hadrian lived about 100 AD and was a major leader of Rome.
